At What Stage Should you Hire Painters - New Homeowners

Family moving in after new home purchase. At what stage should you hire painters?

Congratulations on your new home! After a new purchase, many homeowners are likely contemplating how to turn their house into a home that reflects your style and personality.

One crucial aspect that usually find its way into the discussion is when to bring in a professional painting company to transform your interiors.

Let's explore the stages of homeownership and when is the best time to have painters come in.

Is it before you move everything in or is it after?

Based on how we operate as a Painting Business, we generally recommend that you bring the painters in before you move everything inside the home.

We know there are cases where that may not always be possible, such as, maybe you are moving from an apartment into your new home and you have a specific day you need to move from the apartment by, however, as much as you can we would suggest bringing the painters in before you move everything in.

Why It is Best to Bring the Painters in Before you Bring Everything in

When the house is empty, it is more convenient for the painters to move through the house which will result in the project being completed faster, which also usually lead to a lower cost for the project.

Wouldn't you want to save a couple hundred bucks?

Also, more than likely you will be coordinating a list of other contractors, such as plumbers, maybe carpenters and electricians. With all the furniture out the way, you may be able to have several different projects going on at once without anyone being inconvenienced.

Most of the times we do do repaints when there is a new home purchase, there are several different people going in and out of the house, getting everything ready for the homeowners to move in.

It is a good idea to start looking for a painting contractor as soon as you begin the house hunting process. Have a general idea of what you are looking for, is it 2 beds, 2 baths, living room, kitchen, is it two stories, is it one story?

Once you have an idea of what you want in mind, reach out to a painting company and start forming a relationship with them. We usually recommend getting at least 3 different quotes, however, forming a good relationship with your painters is a great way to go. Reasons?

You may be doing multiple house visits before you actually "pull the trigger" so to speak. if you communicate that to them, then they may be able to be there with you at each one of those showings to let you know the extent of the work that needs to be done, the pricing etc. It is always great to have all of your numbers presented to you in a timely fashion so you you can put together with all the other projects you will have going on to help you make better decisions.
